WDSE•WRPT is pleased to welcome Bryce Nixon as Director of Development and Jon Panzer as Director of Engineering and Operations. Both individuals bring years of experience in their respective fields to the WDSE•WRPT leadership team at a time when the nonprofit is experiencing exponential growth. In their roles, they will build on the station’s momentum while the organization continues to bring high-quality educational and entertaining content for kids and adults to the region, both on-air and online.
Nixon joins WDSE•WRPT from Hartley Nature Center, where she served as Director of Development. Previously, she worked at Marshall School as Associate Head of School for External Relations, and formerly as Director of Advancement, where Nixon envisioned and executed several campaigns and initiatives that brought millions of dollars to the school. Nixon graduated cum laude from both Macalester College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, as well as the University of Minnesota Law School.
“WDSE•WRPT’s mission to strengthen our community in an ever-changing world has never felt more important. The vast artistic, educational, and informational resources that WDSE•WRPT brings to our region present so many great opportunities,” said Nixon. “I am excited to combine my experience from other nonprofit sectors with the terrific work already being done at WDSE•WRPT to create expanded and innovative opportunities for community support and engagement in the organization.”
Panzer joins WDSE•WRPT with over 30 years of experience in broadcast television at Pioneer PBS in Granite Falls, Minn, where he held several titles throughout his career, including Director of Engineering, Station Manager, and Interim General Manager. He has an associate degree in both Television Production and Electronic Engineering from Ridgewater College.
“Over my years in the industry, I’ve heard about WDSE•WRPT’s reputation for their dedication to telling the stories of their local communities,” said Panzer. “I’m excited to have this opportunity to be a part of it and to bring my skills and knowledge to help strengthen and complement this great award-winning organization. I’m also excited to live in Duluth, a place that I spent a lifetime visiting and that I now get to enjoy every day.”
“WDSE•WRPT is delighted to welcome Jon and Bryce to our leadership team,” said Patty Mester, General Manager at WDSE•WRPT. “They have a depth of knowledge and invaluable skill sets to assist in leading WDSE•WRPT through a complex media landscape. They will build on our organization’s solid foundation with innovative technologies and ways to further support our dynamic communities.”
