New Employees - 2018
WDSE•WRPT announces the appointment of Nicole Stern as Membership Director. Stern has a long-time passion for public media and will lead all membership functions including on-air, digital and direct mail fundraising, member acquisition and retention, the sustainer program and member engagement strategies. She joins the station with a robust resume of non-profit media management including fourteen years with Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) as On-Air Fundraising Manager, Sustaining Membership Manager and Director of Membership.
“I believe in the power of public media... the importance of an independent media voice. I am thrilled to join the talented team here.”
She also was the Director of Philanthropy for Animal Humane Society in the Twin Cities and has done consulting work for both public television and radio stations. Stern and her husband Steve eagerly moved from the Twin Cities to Duluth, with their adventurous Rottweiler, Penny. “We truly appreciate the quality of life, natural beauty, thriving arts scene and strong sense of community here.”
Charlie Deville has television and community at heart. From his start as a production crew member and photo journalist to producing hundreds of local newscasts while at WDIO, including many with Dennis Anderson (current WDSE•WRPT Almanac North co-host), to connecting organizations to strong business building ad plans at KBJR/KDLH and KQDS Fox 21, he recognizes the importance of local television.
“Local stations are a conduit, informing and connecting communities — especially WDSE • WRPT. Public television serves a unique, diverse role like no others.”
Deville joins WDSE•WRPT as the station’s Underwriter Account Executive. He will manage and cultivate relationships with existing and potential businesses and partners for on-air, station community events, online opportunities and more. Speaking of community, Deville lives his passion. He serves as president of the Lake Superior Chapter of the BNI (Business Networking International), the second largest chapter in Minnesota. He is president of the Lincoln Park Business Group, belongs to Fuse Duluth and is a current and founding board member of the Lake Superior Disc Golf Community. A Madison, WI native with many outdoor interests, Deville resides in Duluth with his wife Jessica and two daughters, where they love to take in all the Northland has to offer.
Both Stern and Deville are members of the station’s leadership team, headed up by President and General Manager, Patty Mester. WDSE•WRPT exists to serve and celebrate the 431,000 people who proudly call the vibrant communities of northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin their home, delivering local, regional and national PBS programming, media services and online resources.
