WDSE•WRPT is pleased to announce that Joe Mann, Production Assistant and Floor Director since 1996, has been inducted into the Upper Midwest Emmy® Silver Circle Class of 2020. The honor recognizes individuals who have worked in the industry for 25+ years and have made a significant contribution to television and video media above and beyond that required by their job in service to the industry, to the community, or to people training for a career in the field. Nominees answer to the highest standards of integrity and honor in all aspects of their personal and professional lives. Mann is one of five of this year’s honorees.
Mann began his career volunteering at WDSE-TV in 1991 while attending Lake Superior College. The next year he worked on a weekly show (KDLH-TV 3 CBS) and sports broadcasts (channel 13 in Virginia). He then worked for KSFY-TV 13 and KDLT-TV 5 in Sioux Falls before returning to WDSE•WRPT in 1996, where he has continued to work since as Production Assistant and Floor Director. Mann has also worked as a board operator and mascot for local radio stations, in master control, and as a production assistant at Fox 21. In addition, Mann worked and volunteered for Public Access TV on Minnesota’s Iron Range and in the Twin Ports area.
“I’m honored to be recognized with the Silver Circle,” said Mann. “I’d like to thank those who nominated me, the Board of Governors who voted, my coworkers past and present, and the broadcast industry friends whom I learned from and who allowed me to be a part of their team.”
“Joe is incredibly deserving of this honor,” said Dawn Mikkelson, WDSE•WRPT Broadcast Content Manager. “His dedication to this station and our programming has contributed to our station, consistently providing the quality live programming that our viewers depend on.
