Enjoy idyllic music for an autumn evening with the DSSO, and conductor Markand Thaker, as the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, LIVE presents “The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of.”

Saturday, October 13 at 7pm on PBS North

Under the baton of Music Director Markand Thakar, pianist William Wolfram performs Ravel, Alborado del gracioso, revealing a Spanish jester playfully awakening a sleeping lover; in Barber Piano Concerto Op. 38, an American composer pours everything he has into his mid-century piano concerto; Wagner Overture to Tannhauser exposes a medieval knight struggling to free himself from eternal damnation; and Debussy La Mer unveils the sea and in all of its restless moods, comes alive in the concert hall.

An American pianist, William Wolfram has appeared with many of the greatest orchestras of the world and has developed a special reputation as the rare concerto soloist who is also equally versatile and adept as a recitalist, accompanist and chamber musician. In all of these genres, he is highly sought after for his special focus on the music of Franz Liszt and Beethoven; and is a special champion for the music of modernist 20th century American composers.

Wolfram was a silver medalist at both the William Kapell and the Naumburg International Piano Competitions; a bronze medalist at the prestigious Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow; and finalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. A graduate of The Juilliard School, William Wolfram resides in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
