WDSE•WRPT’s Dan Corbett retires June 30 after serving 14 years as Director of Lifelong Learning. Dan’s impact as director is immeasurable. Throughout the years, he has energetically developed and presented hundreds of outreach programs offering unique learning opportunities for the region’s K-12 students.

Dan’s efforts have consistently earned national recognition for engaging more students than comparable efforts at any other PBS station in the U.S.! Our region’s PBS Go! Writer’s Contest, formerly the Reading Rainbow’s Young Writer’s and Illustrator’s Contest, has set national records, engaging more than 20,000 students over the course of the contest.

Through projects and events, Dan has forged and maintained productive partnerships with the area’s institutions of higher learning, including the University of Minnesota-Duluth and the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

During his tenure, Dan implemented a vision of outreach that strengthened WDSE•WRPT’s impact on youth and communities of color, encouraged civic engagement, and served the economically disadvantaged. Dan’s impact has encouraged a life of learning through not only community partnerships, but also through the lens of public television.

The WDSE•WRPT staff and board members have full appreciation for Dan Corbett’s faithful service and offer our very best wishes for his health and happiness in retirement!
