Video Summary

Yofi delivers “ethnic roots music with a twist.” The trio of musicians draws from Swedish, Jewish & Middle Eastern rhythms to assemble an original sound. Joey Kenig, Eli Bissonett and Robin Anders combine styles and influences with a dynamic folk flair. Yofi was recorded live, on location during their Northbound Caravan performance. The event featured five bands with northern connections at the Amici Event Center in Ely.

The PlayList also honors the work of potter Kristi Downing. Her vibrant, open personality is reflected in the raku pottery she made. This in memoriam artist profile, celebrates her legacy. Kristi Downing’s studio, kkd Pottery, is on the shore of Lake Superior, north of Grand Marais. For years, she displayed her work at the Crossing Borders Art Tour and taught pottery classes at North House Folk School in Grand Marais and Grand Marais Art Colony.

Where can an art degree lead you today? We interview Bill Payne, Dean of the School of Fine Arts at UMD, for a perspective on the future of the arts, arts education and SFA’s mission. And then stop to explore a piece of public art in Virginia. “Shoulder to Shoulder” by sculptor Gareth Andrews, honors all veterans, according to our guide, Charlene Luoma of the Iron Range Vets Memorial Committee.
