The musicians of Roxie Magistrate are members of the Iron Range Original Music Association, an organization designed to make original music more visible and viable on the Iron Range. Performing blues, flamenco, or folk rock, Roxie Magistrate's Sela Oveson, Derek Rolando, and Eric Krenz combine voice and guitar for a memorable evening of live, local music.
Ta-Coumba Aiken began drawing at the age of three and at six years old, staged his first art show in his parents' basement set to open "after dinner," raising $657.36. Allowed to spend the 36 cents; the rest was set aside for college. He officially started working at age 11, graduated at age 16, and left Illinois to be part of the art lively scene, landing in the Twin Cities.
He is currently working on a local community mural in Duluth. The effort includes the talents of school children from Nettleton Elementary and Central High School; students, staff and faculty of the College of St. Scholastica; along with members of the public. His vision of the mural is to promote peace, healing, spirituality and love. He shares his art and philosophy.
