Video Summary

Topics: "Gypsy Moth Spraying to Begin" & "Lobbying Trip for Air National Guard Base"

Description: Efforts to eradicate the gypsy moth are underway in Northern Minnesota.  The invasive species is a voracious eater in caterpillar form, and can weaken trees, making them susceptible to disease that may kill them.

And a group of business and political leaders are heading to Washington D.C. to meet with military leaders.  Their plan is to convince the Air Force to locate active-duty personnel at the Duluth Air National Guard Base.  If successful, the “active association” would increase the economic impact of the base, and solidify its future.

Guests: Lucia Hunt, Gypsy Moth Unit Supervisor, Minnesota Department of Agriculture; John Kyhl, Forest Entomologist, U.S. Forest Service; Jo Ann Hoag, Chair – Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; David Ross, President - Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce
