This year's 5,062 original stories, written and illustrated by K-3rd grade students, engaged over 38 schools throughout Northwestern Wisconsin and Northeastern Minnesota. The Top 30 finalists were honored on April 3, 2011 and the grand prize winner read their stories to the audience during the celebration.
For 14 consecutive years, WDSE•WRPT has led this national contest in the largest number of entries and our regional contest has been honored as "the best in the nation." In 2010 a new local record was set with 5,112 children creating original illustrated stories. Over the years, many of our top young writers have had their stories go on and win at the national level.
