On October 1st, the first statewide broadcast of a debate between DFL Governor Mark Dayton, endorsed Republican candidate Jeff Johnson and Independence Party candidate Hannah Nicollet will be held live from the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

MN Gubernatorial Debate

Wednesday, October 1 at 7pm on PBS North

Governor Dayton will engage with Johnson and Nicollet in what, so far, has been called “the most polite race ever” in Minnesota Gubernatorial debate history. It is expected that the line of questioning will focus on issues of concern to communities in rural Minnesota. Possible question topics include local government aid/property taxes, transportation, broadband expansion, environmental regulations and job training. Jay Furst, Managing Editor of the Rochester Post Bulletin, will serve as the moderator. The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities is hosting the debate along with the Post Bulletin and the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce.
