Television broadcasters in the North country join resources for Flood Aid 2012!
Thursday, July 12 from 4-7 pm volunteers from the Twin Ports and beyond will staff a temporary Flood Relief phone bank for Flood Aid 2012. Call Local: 218-788-2844 or Toll Free: 877-307-8762.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a televised event that you can take part in from your home by watching PBS or another local channel. We are not looking for volunteers to be at the studio in person.
During the telethon viewers are encouraged to call and make a donation to the “Twin Ports Region Long Term Flood Relief Fund.” All money raised benefits people in St. Louis, Douglas, Lake, and Carlton County devastated by the flood. The money will be distributed to individuals, not businesses or governments.
All local TV stations will be airing live reports and cut-ins throughout Thursday afternoon promoting the telethon and encouraging people to call with a donation.
Flood Aid 2012 will air live on WDSE from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be simulcast on MY9 (KBJR’s second Channel 6.2). The telethon will be broadcast from the WDSE studio.
Flood Aid 2012 is a joint effort between WDSE Public Television, WDIO, the stations of the Northland’s NewsCenter and FOX 21.
If you cannot donate during the telethon, please contribute anytime online at www.2012floodrelief.org
