The PlayList cameras capture the competition, challenge and camaraderie of the Plein Air "Quick Paint". In those limited minutes, sun, clouds, rain, fog, sunbeams inspire and instigate frustration and success as artists complete their work of art.
The Plein Air Brush Off!
The Art Colony's outdoor painting competition encourages artists to step outside the studio, to embrace the North Shore's exquisite landscape and to push themselves with a limited timeline of 90 minutes to create a masterpiece worthy of the "Quick Paint" title. Raw materials include oil & watercolor paint; pastels and passion.
Mary Pettis, the juror for the show, offers insight into what makes a good painting, the various approaches to painting outdoors, and how to manage the time element. Ms. Amy Demmer provides perspective on the Art Colony, its history, goals and resources.
