Grade School Poster Contest
We are pleased to announce the topic for the WDSE•WRPT Poster Contest for grades 2-5 for school year 2013-14. Students have the opportunity to submit a poster about the designated topic:
“Illustrate a place or environment where you are perfectly happy. Your special place can be real or imaginary and your illustration of that place should include a few words that help the viewer understand why this place is so special for you.”
There are no restrictions on media (ink, colored pencil, markers, paint, paper, craft supplies etc.) but the work must be dry and stackable when submitted. Each entry must be original and not exceed the borders of an 11 X 17 poster. Entries must be marked on the back with the student's name, school, teacher and grade.
The deadline for poster submissions is December 6, 2013. Because so many schools and students will be participating, we ask teachers, with the help of their students, to choose the best five posters for submission from each classroom.
Teachers and homeschool parents may send their entries to: WDSE•WRPT 632 Niagara Court, Duluth, MN 55811.
Each grade level will be awarded the following prizes:
- First Place: $150
- Second Place: $100
- Third Place: $75
- Honorable Mention: Special gifts
A panel of area artists, teachers and gallery owners will judge submitted posters, and winners will be announced in February. A recognition ceremony will be held on March 30, 2014, in Duluth, to honor the winners and honorable mention recipients and to award the prizes.
If you have questions about the contest, please contact Shane Bauer at (218) 464-4237 or Kathy Clark at 218-724-5147. We are very pleased to offer this special contest again this year for students in grades 2-5 in our viewing area. We appreciate the help of many area sponsors for providing the prize monies and funding the awards ceremony.
